Abbas meets Blinken on Palestinian statehood, Gaza conflict

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday met with visiting U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in the West Bank, discussing issues including Palestinian statehood and the developments in the Gaza Strip.
Abbas said peace and security could be achieved through the implementation of the two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported.
Blinken conveyed U.S. commitment to increasing the delivery of life-saving humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza and reiterated the U.S. support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as the best pathway to enduring peace and security for Palestinians and Israelis alike, according to a statement from the White House.
